Live Baccarat: Squeeze, Roads and Betting Patterns
Live baccarat is the highest-volume table game in the world, and most of its culture comes from the rituals rather than the rules.
Two games decided in seconds, with edges that need respect
Dragon Tiger is the simplest live game ever built. Sic Bo is the oldest. Both resolve faster than any other live table, which makes edge awareness essential.
A single card is dealt to Dragon and a single card to Tiger. The higher card wins; both bets pay even money. An ace is the lowest card and a king the highest, and a tie is settled separately.
The simplicity hides a modest edge: betting either side carries about 3.73%. An optional Tie bet pays 8 to 1 or 11 to 1 depending on the studio, and carries an edge around 11% to 32%. Suited tie bets pay much more and lose far more often.
Because there is no decision to make, the game is pure pacing. Rounds complete in around 20 to 30 seconds and a table can run more than 120 hands an hour. It has become a mainstay of Asian-facing live lobbies precisely because it strips a table game down to a coin flip with a scoreboard.
That scoreboard is the same trap as baccarat's roads: a run of dragons says nothing about the next card.
Live Sic Bo uses a physical shaker with three dice, often automated so that the cage tips and tumbles the dice without a dealer. The result is read by the system and displayed, and the layout settles dozens of possible bets.
The Big and Small bets at 2.78% remain the anchor, and the exotic combination bets remain expensive. Because a Sic Bo round is shorter than a roulette spin, the number of settled bets per hour is very high.
For fast live tables, count hands rather than money. Round counts are honest; cash totals are not.
